The egg hunt

There is an old video, with no sound, of my dad and his cousin (who grew up more like siblings than cousins) having an Easter egg hunt.  They are probably 4 or 5 years old, that super cute age where each egg discovery is met with joy and delight on their little faces.

But my favorite part of the video is the WAY in which they are egg hunting.  My dad is the first to find the eggs, with his cousin close on his heels, so they sort of discover them together.  My dad picks up both eggs and first puts one in his cousin’s basket, then the second in his own.  My grandparents had learned to hide two eggs in every spot, knowing they would go searching together and wanting them both to get the loot.

So on this Easter Sunday (although this will be shared Monday and Tuesday), I leave you not with a thought-provoking question or a new perspective, but with the image of two kiddos on the hunt together, sharing everything they find, equal winners in their effort.  May we all find what we’re looking for, while side-by-side with those who are also on the hunt.
