Simmering pots

I have a lot of pots on the proverbial stove right now, and most of them are simmering.  None is quite yet boiling, and I don’t have any way to know what will boil first or how soon.

It’s kind of annoying.  But also really exciting.

As a coach, I often have this conversation with clients and most are trying to figure out how to get pots OFF the stove.  To remove them from their purview so they can focus their attention on fewer things.

But I’m starting to discover the upside to having lots of pots to watch.

I can’t get too obsessed with any one pot.  I can’t overthink or overwork or overworry.  I have too many other things to tend to.  I can’t even fathom controlling things because the volume makes it all simply out of my control.

Distractions are worth minimizing…but having many things you care about can be liberating from the paralysis that can keep us stuck when we’re singularly focused.

What would it be like to lean into the chaos and action instead of trying to manage and control it?
