You’ve probably heard the puzzle where someone offers you a choice: either a million dollars right now, or a penny, doubled, every day for a month. The choice seems obvious, right?? A million dollars, right now!!
Of course, then they show you the math.
That penny on the first day, two cents the second, four cents the third, eight cents the fourth, and so on, look wildly unimpressive. For a whole lot of days. It’s not until almost the very end of the month time frame you that you realize you’d be getting more than FIVE TIMES that other offer of a million dollars.
Creating something is very much the same. For a while, it’s a penny here, a couple pennies there. Then maybe even a few dollars. It can seem like you’re going nowhere. But what you don’t see is that all that effort, momentum, drip-drip-drip commitment is busy compounding in the background, leading to big things down the road.
