To some, Kindergarten is kind of a throwaway grade before you really start “school”. However, a friend asked me what I missed about Kindergarten and my response made me realize that some of the best life lessons I’ve learned have their roots in my Kindergarten year.
So today’s short post is to share those with you, dear readers!
When someone tells a story, sit near them and listen. You are likely to be delighted, amazed, or at worst, lulled to sleep.
Don’t take more than your share. And when there’s not enough for everyone, find a way to share.
When your friend is sad, let them know you care about them. Put your arm around them or give them your cookie or sing them a song. They’ll come around when they’re ready.
Follow the laughter. If you don’t know who to play with, go to the person or people who are laughing. They’re probably doing something fun.
Not everyone will want to play with you, and that’s OK. Play with the ones who do, and find a game you both want to play.
Don’t say mean things to other people. It makes them feel bad, and then you’ll feel bad. And that’s bad. Which is the opposite of good.
Your day isn’t complete until you’ve had play time, snack time, and nap time. Skipping any one of those is not recommended.
What are the best lessons you learned from Kindergarten??
