A couple weeks ago, I got the opportunity to go to the ChiefX event in LA. I’ve worked with Chief as a Guide (facilitator and coach) for three years now and gotten to meet, work with, and connect with countless dynamic humans. It’s been a gift wrapped in a “job”.
The recent event was the last in the series of in-person day-long conference-style gatherings held by Chief for their Members and Guides. I arrived with the desire to meet new people, have real conversations, and get to connect IRL with my Members who I hadn’t ever met in person. But what I took away from the day was beyond these few things.
Even with these lightly held hopes, the event exceeded my expectations. A gorgeous space, friendly and caring women as far as the eye could see, and outstanding speakers made for, quite simply, a fabulous event.
But I wanted to take a moment to reflect further about these sorts of gatherings, with this one being the particular recent beautiful example.
In any given environment, we have a choice. We get to decide if it’s going to be a worthwhile experience. And it has little to do with the outside factors of what is happening. It all comes down to whether we decide to make something of what unfolds.
Aside from the beautiful (anticipated) outcomes from the ChiefX event, I also took away these “nuggets” from the day:
Making time for events like this that bring people together are one of the highest uses of time. It’s rare to get to connect with others in a space that is specially designed to bring them together intentionally, so when you have that chance – take it.
There is an energy to connecting with others in person that simply cannot be replicated online. Even a simple meeting and exchange of pleasantries can bring a ripple of light and joy when IRL.
Stepping outside from an event can make you feel like you’re missing something…but often some of the most delightful conversations and connections happen in the nooks and crannies, outside of the primary spaces.
What are the unexpected nuggets you could choose to take away from your next experience?
